By empowering clients to update their own details and providing a secure online document storage vault, atWORK’s self-service client portal is making life much easier – for advisors and clients alike.
As COVID continues to impact our lives, it’s important to remind ourselves that there have been some silver linings to the pandemic. We’re all spending less time in traffic for starters. And it’s opened our eyes to the benefits of embracing technology. Not least: increased efficiency, reduced costs and access to a wider pool of clients.
Introducing atHOME
AtHOME is atWORK’s client service portal. It allows clients to edit their own information, to access their own investment data and documentation and to upload and securely store any documents they wish to keep safe. This feature is available, free of charge, to any advisor with an atWORK license. Whenever a client changes their information in atHOME, it automatically reflects in atWORK (some fields, like ID number, are locked for editing). What’s more, as their advisor, you will receive an email informing you that changes have been made.
Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s unpack the main benefits.
Benefit #1: It’ll save you (and your clients) time
The portal allows clients to update everything from personal details and smoker status through to income and expenses and assets and liabilities. While this is obviously a massive time-saver for you as an advisor, it also makes clients’ lives easier. “Making sure that all info is up to date before you meet will shave at least 15 minutes off every meeting,” says Koekemoer. “And it will give you the opportunity to prepare required documentation ahead of time…Much to the relief of your clients.”
Benefit #2: It’ll save you (and your clients) money
By increasing efficiency, atHOME will free you and your staff up to do an even better job of growing your clients’ investments. It might also enable you to reduce your headcount or to expand your business. These savings can then be passed on to your clients.
Benefit #3: It’ll keep you on the right side of POPIA
One of the best things about atHOME is that it provides clients with a secure online vault in which to store their essential documents. This makes it much easier for you to be POPIA compliant. “Under POPIA you’ll no longer be able to send your clients documents via regular, unencrypted email,” explains Koekemoer. “Uploading a client’s documents to atHOME’s secure online vault neatly sidesteps this requirement. It’s also a much safer way of doing business.”
Bonus Benefit: It’ll give your clients peace of mind when they travel
While the document vault was designed for clients to store and access investment documents, it can be used to safely and securely store any kind of documentation. In fact, we encourage advisers to urge clients to save copies of their passports, credit cards and travel insurance policies to the vault. This will come in handy if their documents are stolen in Timbuktu or lost in Taiwan, as the vault can be accessed from anywhere in the world.
The bottom line
If you’re already an atWORK user you should waste no time in getting your clients onto atHOME. And if you’re not currently using atWORK you should “seriously consider migrating to a CRM that boasts a self-service client portal,” Koekemoer urges.
