In a market where many medical aid options can feel increasingly complex, Fedhealth has introduced a new Traditional option range that offers something many South Africans have been looking for: practical, structured cover with relevant benefits and genuine everyday value.
The launch of sureFEDEssential and sureFEDPlus gives financial advisers a fresh opportunity to engage clients, especially businesses, who may feel caught between affordability and the need for dependable private medical aid cover.
Launch incentives strengthen the value proposition
To support the rollout, Fedhealth has introduced two launch incentives that add even more value for both advisers and their clients.
Members who join during 2026 will receive a full year’s benefits with no pro-rating, ensuring they enjoy access to their full annual benefit allocation regardless of when they join.
In addition, Fedhealth has guaranteed that 2026 contribution rates for Traditional options will remain unchanged throughout 2027, giving clients rare contribution certainty at a time when rising medical aid costs continue to place pressure on both household and business budgets.
Together, these incentives give advisers a compelling new reason to reopen medical aid conversations with both individual and corporate clients.
A simpler, structured approach to medical aid
Unlike savings-based medical aid options, Fedhealth’s Traditional range combines day-to-day benefits, hospital cover, and chronic medication into one structured solution with clearly defined benefits funded by the Scheme.
So instead of trying to manage a separate day-to-day savings account, members have access to predefined benefits that are already built into the option and designed around the way people actually use their medical aid.
For advisers, this opens the door to more practical conversations with clients who want medical aid that feels easier to understand, easier to use, and easier to budget for.
Two options designed for different life stages
sureFEDEssential is available from just R1 940 per month, and is positioned as an entry-level Traditional option aimed primarily at individuals under 35 looking for balanced, practical medical aid cover.
The option includes unlimited private hospital cover on the Fedhealth network, predefined day-to-day benefits, chronic medicine cover for approved CDL conditions, preventative care benefits, and mental health support.
sureFEDPlus starts at only R3 565 per month for a main member, and builds on this foundation with richer day-to-day benefits and additional support for young and growing families. The option includes enhanced maternity and childhood benefits, expanded dentistry and optical benefits, additional mental health support, oncology benefits, and a broader range of preventative screening and wellness benefits.
Opening new doors to corporate conversations
For many businesses, medical aid remains one of the most valued employee benefits, but also one of the most difficult to balance against affordability pressures.
Employers are increasingly looking for options that still provide quality cover, while giving employees greater certainty around how their benefits work and what they include. This is where Fedhealth believes the Traditional range creates a strong new opportunity for advisers.
Because the benefits are already built into the option, employees know more clearly what they’re covered for and how to use their medical aid in everyday life. At the same time, employers are able to offer quality private medical aid that still aligns with tighter budget realities.
For advisers, that creates a valuable strategic advantage in corporate conversations where affordability, employee wellbeing, and quality cover all need to work together.
Meeting changing member expectations
The launch of the Traditional range reflects a broader shift in how medical schemes are responding to changing member expectations. Increasingly, consumers and corporates are looking for medical aid that feels practical, transparent, and easier to manage within budget constraints.
For advisers, that creates an opportunity to reposition medical aid conversations around relevance, usability, and predictable value – not simply price alone.
With sureFEDEssential and sureFEDPlus, Fedhealth aims to provide exactly that: structured medical aid solutions designed for the way South Africans live and what they can afford today.
