STANLIB has appointed Barri Maggott, former CEO of Curo Fund Services, as its Chief Operating Officer from 1 September 2021. Maggott will assume responsibility for all STANLIB’s business units’ operations.

Commenting on Maggott’s appointment, STANLIB CEO, Derrick Msibi said: “We are delighted that Barri is joining the STANLIB team. His background in transforming investment operations to a digital environment and maximising straight-through processing will be particularly beneficial as we continue to improve the overall client experience at STANLIB. As we continue to invest in developing a future-fit, technologically driven organisation, we will also benefit from Barri’s deep organisational design and technology re-architecture experience.”

Maggott, who trained as a CA(SA) has dedicated the greater part of his career to the financial services industry. He has amassed more than a decade’s experience in the investment sector, ranging across strategy, technology and risk management in both the public and private sectors. Prior to Curo, where Maggott led the strategic growth of the company, he had worked for the Auditor-General’s office and Momentum Investments.

“I look forward to joining the STANLIB team at this exciting juncture and to be part of such a progressive asset manager,” said Maggott in response to his appointment. “Delivering a seamless, secure transaction platform, in combination with world-class investment capabilities are key to gaining market share in a highly-competitive environment. While it is a challenging task, it also presents opportunities for STANLIB to excel in their strategic focus areas.”
