Even the rich are poorer now. This came to light when the Sunday Times reported last weekend that cash strapped parents were pulling their children out of top schools like Hilton College in KZN and St Mary’s in Waverley, Johannesburg. The fact that Orlando and Camilla can no longer attend upper middle-class places of learning is not the end of the world. What concerns me is how the poorest of the poor are coping at present – and how they’ll manage to feed themselves in the months ahead. (more…)
