Mild uptick in building confidence in 2Q2019

  • The FNB/BER Building Confidence Index registered a gain of 4 points to 29 in 2Q2019.
  • Four of the six sub-sectors registered higher confidence with quantity surveyors the only sector to see a drop in confidence.
  • While confidence was higher, growth in activity was broadly unchanged.
  • In contrast, activity at the start of the building pipeline (architects and quantity surveyors) improved.
